Activity 8 : Creating User Persona

A movie only gives you an Idea of a fictional character, i.e. Persona. However building a Persona is similar to writing a autobiography of a person while looking into his overall personality including his

• Age

• Occupation

• Goals

• Preferences

• Experiences

I guess the list will never end. Its about knowing the person both Mentally, Physically, even Professionally.

WARM UP ACTIVITY

To dive deeper into the sense of persona of a person, we were given some objects and were asked to try and identify the person to whom they might belong.

We carefully analyzed all the objects given to us in the picture and then listed down the characteristic elements to know about a person who would wear them. We ended up finding out the age category of which that person might fall under, the gender, occupation and the personality that the person might have.

MAIN ACTIVITY

After stating the outer and the inner traits of the person, we had to sketch a personality for the person. Looking at the objects, we came up with a character named AKANSHA, an Aspiration, which aspired us to dig more into knowing the character well.

REFLECTIONS

• While being a part of this activity, I got to know the importance of creating a persona of a user before making any product in design.

• Creating a user persona can be compared to surveying, how many people would fall under the target group of the product which helps in good marketing strategy.

• This helped me in realizing the importance of analyzing objects carefully, as each and every person has attachment to some objects that define or tell us about the physical and emotional traits of the user.

• We as a group realized the importance of teamwork and how personal experiences of different person can take us to getting a real picture of the user faster.
